Uneven pigmentation & Skin Lightening

Beauty comes in different shades and no matter your skin color, bring out the best in it with a clear even-toned complexion.
Uneven pigmentation affects most people, regardless of ethnic background or skin color. Skin pigmentation disorders occur because the body produces too much melanin on all or certain regions of the skin. This could be triggered by hormonal changes resulting from pregnancy, birth control pills or estrogen replacement therapy. It could also be caused by unprotected sun exposure. Melanin is the pigment produced by skin cells that gives the skin dark color. It is the skin's natural way of protecting itself from sun damage. A natural way to protect people in tropical regions like Africa.

People with long history of unprotected sun exposure tend to suffer more from uneven pigmentation. Aside from sun exposure and hormonal changes, hyperpigmentation can be caused by skin damage, such as remnants of blemishes, wounds or rashes. This is especially true for those with darker skin tones.

Skin-lightening treatments can reduce or block some amount of melanin production, by aiming at inhibiting the enzyme tyrosinase. This is the enzyme in the skin that triggers melanin production. These are some of the main actives in Porselene skin lightening collection aimed at reducing melanin production by inhibiting tyrosinase.

Kojic Acid
This is an excellent skin lightening agent derived from various fungal species. It is a tyrosinase inhibitor thus stops the production of melanin. Kojic acid can be used in concentrations of up to five per cent twice daily as a safe skin lightener. A more effective alternative is Kojic Dipalmitate which is a key ingredient in Porselene Skin Lightening and Firming Body Lotion.

Tretinoin, Alpha Hydroxy Acids, and Vitamin C
These are less effective than Kojic acid and can take longer before an improvement can be seen. However they improve the skin cell production, collagen production and elasticity. These 3 products are used in Porselene Night Cream to boost skin repair while promoting even skin tone. Alpha hydroxy acids are also used in the skin lightening body lotion and the day gel.

Botacenta® SLC175:  A potent Skin Lightening Complex based on herbal extract, containing primarily a mixture of Scutellaria Root Extract, Liquorice Extract, Mulberry Root Extract and Burnet Extract. This complex is a demonstrated inhibitor of the enzyme tyrosinase. It is an exclusive active found in all Porselene skin lightening products

Azelaic Acid
This is particularly good for treating acne but has not shown a good result in skin lightening. However, in a patented combination with the protein glycine, a highly effective, stable and safe Azeloglicina emerged as a a very effective skin lightener, moisturizer and anti-acne active. This active is the primary ingredient in all Porselene skin lightening products. This has resulted in a highly effective skin lightening collection of products that evens out pigmentation while clearing unsightly blemishes.

Arbutin
This is derived from the leaves of bearberry, cranberry, mulberry or blueberry shrubs, and also is present in most types of pears. It can have melanin-inhibiting properties. This ingredient is found in all Porselene skin lightening products.

Porselene skin lightening products contain multiple tyrosinase inhibiting actives to target melanin production at various stages. This results in a very effective skin lightening effect that reduces unwanted pigmentation thus improving the skin tone and clarity.

With our gentle facial cleanser, exfoliants, and skin lightening treatments loaded with effective skin lightening actives, antioxidants, ingredients that mimic the structure of skin, and cell- communicating ingredients, your skin is on its way to re-capturing its most even-toned luminosity.

Sun Screen

A daily use of a good sun screen should be used to allow some natural repair to occur as well as a protection from further photo damage. Sun exposure is one of the highest causes of hyper pigmentation and using any kind of skin lightening or laser treatments without a sun screen is a total waste of time
